Mahindra Xylo Review

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited launched their latest Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) “Xylo” in India on January 13, 2009. The car boasts of having all the luxurious features that are seen in today’s sedans, with the ample space of a utility vehicle. Xylo's muscular stance contributes to its commanding road presence. Fully packed with the latest features, the MUV is sure to impress Indian consumers and provide a stiff competition to the other vehicles within its class.
Performance
Under the hood of Mahindra Xylo lies a 4-cylinder turbocharged, mEagle diesel engine, which generates a power of 112bhp @ 3800 rpm and a peak torque of 24 kgm @ 1800-3000 rpm. The powerful engine is developed on the NEF CRDe platform and is mated to 5-gears manual transmission. The car accelerates from rest to 60 km/h in just 5.8 seconds.
Design
Mahindra XyloThe aggressive radiator grille - with chrome slats, body colored bumper - with integrated fog lamps and sloping bonnet adorn the muscular front end of Mahindra Xylo. The features further enhancing the imposing stance of the vehicle are its twin-colored outside rear view mirrors and wrap-around taillights. The muscular exteriors of the automobile are well complemented by roomy interiors, which get a number of storage spaces tactfully located within the cabin. The car features foldable flight trays, positioned in the rear end of the front seats.
Comfort
Mahindra Xylo is perfectly suitable for long journeys with your family. The front seats can be fully stretched to convert them into a flat bed. The ergonomically designed seats of Xylo have three position lumbar support, which provides the lower back support that is much required during long trips, when the vehicle is driven on bumpy roads. Riding in the car is quiet comfortable for all the occupants. The roof mounted AC vents ensure that the passengers sitting in the rears seat enjoy a ride as comfortably as the ones in the front.
Safety
Mahindra Xylo is fully packed with safety features, offering a high-level of protection to its occupants. Apart from the standard safety features like seatbelts and tilt steering column, the car has been equipped with special crumple zones as well. The vehicle’s engine immobilizer is designed to prevent theft. When an inappropriate key is used to start the car, the immobilizer cuts off the fuel supply to the engine. This way, it protects the car from an unauthorized entry.
Features, Variants & Color
The standard features found in the four variants of Mahindra Xylo – E2, E4, E6 and E8 - are body colored electric outside rear view mirrors, height adjustable driver’s seat, tubeless tyres, central locking, illumination ring, power window, and electric remote fuel lid opener. E6 and E8 variants get body colored bumpers. Colored handles, outside rear view mirrors and footstep end caps are found in both E6 and E8 variants, which are not available in the other two models. Mahindra Xylo comes in a lovely range of colors including Fiery Black, Mist Silver, Mint Green, Lucky Lilac, Gold Shimmer, Toreador Red, Java Brown and Rocky Beige.
